MAY 17th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - MAKE A GREETING CARD     9:00 - 10:00AM
In this class we will make creative greeting cards using different textures to make designs -- this will include feathers, flowers, leaves, sponges and more.  Fee:  $2.00 per child.   Pre-registration is required.

MAY 17th - CREATING CURB APPEAL WITH PLANTS     1:00 - 2:30PM
Everyone wants a front yard that is appealing to themselves and those who pass by.  In this informative class, we will discuss some common landscaping mistakes that make your front yard boring and uninviting.  We will discuss proper plant selection and placement in your yard, usage of containers, color in the garden, handling overgrown shrubs and lots more.  Bring your pictures and questions.  Landscape expert Michael Larkin will host.  Fee:  $10.00  Pre-registration is required.

JUNE 6th - JACKSON & PERKINS ROSE PROGRAM    6:00PM
Join Doug Ford, expert from Jackson & Perkins Roses for this informative program on growing roses and keeping them healthy.   FREE.

JUNE 7th - CEMENT LEAF CASTING WORKSHOP    1-2:30PM
Leaf casting is great fun and easy to make.  In this class you will learn the tricks to create a cement mold of a plant leaf.  The leaf's natural depressions and veins are captured in cement mix.  They can be painted and used as art for your wall or garden, make great bird baths or stepping stones.  In this class we will make 2 leaves and discuss the various ways they can be painted later at home.  We will provide the leaves and supplies for making 2 leaves.  Michael Larkin will host.  Fee:  $15.00.  THIS CLASS IS FULL.  WE HAVE ADDED ANOTHER CLASS ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 16TH FROM 1-2:30PM.  (Scroll to August)

JUNE 14th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - LADY BUG ERASER & BUG PENCIL TOPPER     9:00 - 10:00AM
Come have a little fun with this bug themed class -- we’ll make adorable erasers and toppers for pencils.  Fee:  $2.00 per child.  Pre-registration is required.

JUNE 28th - HYPERTUFA WORKSHOP     1:00 - 3:00PM
Join Michael Larkin - Local Horticulturist and trough and conifer expert - for this fun, hands-on workshop for making hypertufa troughs.  Each participant will make one of these fascinating, stone-like planters that are perfect for creating a miniature landscape of alpine plants, rocks and dwarf conifers.  Fee:  $25.00.  Pre-registration is required.

Learn the art of paper making in this interesting class.  Each child will make paper to take along home.  Fee:  $3.00 per child.  Pre-registration is required.

AUGUST 2nd - BUTTERFLY DAY
Make plans to join us for this wonderful day that’s all about butterflies!  We’ll have kid’s activities, a butterfly house, a butterfly gardening seminar, fun displays and a long-awaited butterfly release at noon.  Call ahead to purchase your own butterfly to release.  Ask for Kerri.

AUGUST 6th - EVENING CHILDREN’S GARDENING SERIES (1 OF 5) BUILDING SOIL / DECOMPOSITION    5:30-6:30PM
This is a new series of evening gardening classes designed just for kids ages 6-12.  In this class we’ll discuss decomposition and explore ways to build up soil nature’s way.
Fee:  $5.00 per child.  ($20.00 for the series of 5).  Pre-registration is required.

AUGUST 16th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - POTATO STAMPING    
9:00 - 10:00AM

An old favorite, but always creative -- we’ll carve potatoes to make stamps for any occcasion.  Fee:  $2.00 per child.  Pre-registration is required.

AUGUST 19th - FLORAL BASKET  WORKSHOP - ARRANGING BASICS     5:30PM
In this fun workshop, we’ll use different varieties of dried flowers and pods to create beautiful textures and colors to compliment your home.  Bring your own basket or select one of ours.  (Price may be increased for larger containers.)  Fee:  $25.00  Pre-registration is required.

AUGUST 23RD - DOG DAYS     9:00AM - 12NOON
Grab your dog and join us for a morning of fun.  We’ll have organizations offering dog adoption opportunities, vendors selling dog products, a jetset demonstration,
dog wash and more!

AUGUST 26th - CORN LEAF WREATH WORKSHOP     5:30PM
Build your own beautiful wreath using fresh corn leaves and some other natural accents.  The wreath will dry and stay beautiful for many months to come. 
Fee:  $25.00.  Pre-registration is required.

SEPTEMBER 10th - EVENING CHILDREN’S GARDENING SERIES
(2 OF 5)  FINDING, GATHERING, SAVING SEEDS   5:30-6:30PM

This is a new series of evening gardening classes designed just for kids ages 6-12. 
In this class we’ll find and gather seeds to dry for next year’s gardens.  Fee:  $5.00 per child.  ($20.00 for the series of 5).  Pre-registration is required.

SEPTEMBER 13th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - CRAYON MELT    
9:00 - 10:00AM

Bring your crayons and we will melt them down and recycle them into new writing instruments!  Fee:  $2.00 per child.   Pre-registration is required.

SEPTEMBER 17th - BASIC ORCHID CARE   6:00PM
Join our orchid expert, Kerri Laudig, for an informative program on orchids. 
Each participant will receive a starter orchid to take home.  Fee:  $15.00.

SEPTEMBER 18th - DRIED HERB WREATH     5:30PM
Each participant will make a beautiful dried herb wreath on a bed of spanish moss.  Choose your favorite herbs and create your own masterpiece.  (Approximate size - 20” in diameter).  Fee:  $30.00.  Pre-registration is required.

SEPTEMBER 30th - LEMON LEAF WREATH WORKSHOP     5:30PM
Starting from scratch, we’ll fashion a fresh lemon leaf wreath on a straw base, incorporating dried flowers for accents of color and texture.  Fee:  $30.00.  Pre-registration is required.

OCTOBER 3, 4, 10, 11, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 - FALL HARVEST DAYS
Join us for this annual event for the whole family.  Children all ages delight in the fall season at Ashcombe.  Take a wagon ride, pick-your-own pumpkin, take your best shot at our corn maze and enjoy some delicious harvest foods.  (Hayrides can be scheduled by appointment on additional days.)

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25th - FIRE SAFETY AND AWARENESS DAY
We wrap up our Fall Harvest Days with this annual event where we invite local fire companies and rescue squads to visit and talk with customers.  There will be units on-site for touring and special demonstrations (depending on availability of units).

OCTOBER 7th - FLORAL PUMPKIN WORKSHOP    5:30PM
This is an old favorite of both kids and adults.  We’ll start with a pumpkin, carve out the center and fill it with a glorious fall flower arrangement using dried flowers, leaves and pods. Fee:  $25.00.  Pre-registration is required.

OCTOBER 8th - EVENING CHILDREN’S GARDENING SERIES (3 OF 5)  PACKAGING THE HARVEST   5:30-6:30PM
This is a new series of evening gardening classes designed just for kids ages 6-12.  In this class, we’ll explore different ways of packaging the seeds we saved in the last class.  This can be for your own use or to give your seeds away as gifts.  Fee:  $5.00 per child.  ($20.00 for the series of 5).  Pre-registration is required.

OCTOBER 11th -  PUMPKIN DECORATING
Each child will get to express his or her creativity in this class by decorating pumpkins with pins, cotton, tacks, natural leaves, flowers, pods and so much more!  Fee:  $3.00 per child.  Pre-registration is required.

OCTOBER 15th - LIVING FALL CENTERPIECE WORKSHOP    5:30PM
We’ll start by making a living wreath from herbs and ivy, then fill the center with gourds, mini corn, mums and other fall accents.   (Finished size is approximately 22” in diameter).  Fee:  $35.00.  Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER 4th - SIMPLE SOAP MAKING I     5:30PM
This is the first in a series of 2 classes for simple, but creative soap making.  In this first class, we’ll make decorative citrus soap, shell soap and stamped bars using floral additives as exfoliants.  Fee:  $25.00.  Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER 5th - BOW MAKING BREAKFAST     9:00AM
Join us for a delicious breakfast and learn how to make bows just in time for holiday decorating.  Each participant will make several bows to take home.  Fee:  $20.00.  Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER 8th - HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

NOVEMBER 11th - SIMPLE SOAP MAKING II     5:30PM

NOVEMBER 12th - EVENING CHILDREN’S GARDENING SERIES
(4 OF 5)  PROPAGATING HOUSE PLANTS  5:30-6:30PM

This is a new series of evening gardening classes designed just for kids ages 6-12. 
In this class, each child will learn propagation techniques for house plants and propagate several of their own to take home. Fee:  $5.00 per child.  ($20.00 for the series of 5).  Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER 13th - CANDLE MAKING FUN WORKSHOP     5:30pm
Just in time for holiday gift giving!  In this class we’ll learn simple techniques for making beautiful candle creations of your own.  Fee:  $20.00.   Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER 15th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - CANDLE MAKING     9:00-10:00AM
Learn the basics of candle making and take home your own candle just in time for Thanksgiving.  Fee:  $3.00 per child.   Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 4th - FRESH GREEN SWAG WORKSHOP     5:30PM
Starting from scratch, each participant will make a beautiful fresh green swag, then decorate it with a bow, pods, ornaments and flowers of choice.  Fee:  $20.00.  Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 6th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - PINE & CANDY WREATH     9:00 - 10:00AM
A favorite - this class is timed for holiday decorating.  Each child will make a fresh wreath from scratch and decorate it with candy.  Fee:  $3.00 per child.  Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 9th - BOXWOOD TREE WORKSHOP     5:30PM
Another traditional favorite!  Each participant will make a beautiful tree (approximately 20” tall) using fresh boxwood, then  decorate it using flowers, ribbons and ornaments.  This tree will last through the holiday season with proper watering and care.  Fee:  $30.00.  Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 10th - EVENING CHILDREN’S GARDENING SERIES (5 OF 5) COAXING FLOWER BULBS  5:30-6:30PM
This is a new series of evening gardening classes designed just for kids ages 6-12.  In this class, we’ll “force” bulbs for indoor winter bloom. Fee:  $5.00 per child.  ($20.00 for the series of 5).  Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 11th - FRESH GREEN WREATH  WORKSHOP & BREAKFAST     9:00AM

DECEMBER 13th - CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - CHRISTMAS GARLAND     9:00 - 10:00AM
We will make Christmas garland to hang on the tree using popcorn, cranberries, lemon leaves, pinecones and more!  Fee:  $2.00 per child.   Pre-registration is required.

DECEMBER 16th - HOLIDAY COCKSCOMB BALLS WORKSHOP     5:30PM
