Terrarium Workshop Sat, Feb. 18, 11am
Each participant will make their own terrarium to take home. Fee is $5.00 plus plants and supplies.

Fairy Garden Workshop Sat, Feb 18, 1pm
In this class, each participant will plant their own fairy garden. Fee is $5.00 plus plants and supplies.

Soup & Bread Luncheon Mon, Feb. 20, 11am
Sample soups made in our Cafe and breads made fresh in our Bakery. Have a lunch date with the girls, or bring your valentine. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Time to Propagate Wed, Feb. 22, 1pm
Each child will start their own vegetable garden from seed and cuttings. We will take a tour around the greenhouse to look at all the plants while we take cuttings for our vegetable gardens. Get ready to get a bit dirty! Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Held at the York Expo Center. Come to the show and stop by our booth. Tickets can be purchased at Ashcombe.

Mommy&Me: Leaf Prints Tues, Mar. 7, 10am
In this fun class, parent and child together will make a masterpiece, created by painting the vein-side of leaves and making beautiful prints with them. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Please wear old clothes. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Herbal Leaf Print Design Wed, Mar. 8, 1pm
In this creative class, students will make a beautiful design using prints from paint and assorted herb leaves. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00
Spring Open House:   Saturday, Mar. 18th & 25th

Join us for our annual open house event. We will have creative displays, special guests, seminars,
new gardening items, and a sneak peek at new plant varieties for the upcoming season.

Key Hole Gardening Display: Get ideas on how to make Key Hole Gardening work for you. Even in small spaces, you can have a beautiful, productive, and diversified garden.

Children’s Craft Class: Build A Sprout House Sat, Mar. 18, 10am
We will use sponges and seeds to construct little sprout houses. Each child will make a sprout house to take home and they’ll enjoy watching it grow and tracking its progress! Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $10.00

Kokedama: Moss Planters Sat, Mar. 18, 1pm
What is a Kokedama? It is a form of Japanese garden art that is centuries old and tied into the practice of bonsai. The spherical planters are formed around the roots of our plants and are coated in a sheet of moss, and secured with twine wrapping. This decorative planter can be set on a table or suspended in the air. Join Michael Larkin in creating these unique and eye-catching planters. Each participant will make their own moss planter to take home. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00
Homeschool Craft Class: Making Scented Soft Soap Wed, Mar. 22, 1pm
Each child will mix up their own container of soft soap using a base and scents. They will pour their mixture into a decorative bottle and finish will a bow and accents to use at home or give as a gift. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $10.00

Spring Pond 101, with The Pond Depot – FREE! Sat, Mar. 25, 11am
The Pond Depot will introduce themselves with this seminar about starting a spring pond. Several topics will be covered as they walk you through your pond checklist. Bring your questions too! The Pond Depot will officially open in April, beside our Trees & Shrubs Department.

Straw Bale Gardening Sat, Mar. 25, 2pm
Master Gardener Emeritus Dennis Mawhinney will show us how to make the most of Straw Bale Gardening and its benefits. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Kids Plant a Pansy – FREE! Sat, Mar. 25, 10-3pm

The Pond Depot Opens: Details to come!

Mommy&Me: Egg Carton Flower Bouquet Tues, Apr. 4, 10am
Brighten up your little one’s room with a colorful bouquet made from cardboard egg cartons, buttons, and fuzzy sticks. This class is for children 4 years and under. Please wear old clothes. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Craft Class: Rain Cloud Mobile Sat, Apr. 8, 10am
April Showers bring May flowers! Each child will make their own cloud and rain drops to assemble into a mobile. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $5.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Planting Herb Tins Wed, Apr 12, 1pm
We’ll start with tin containers and paint them using stencils or a hand crafted design. Next, we will plant them with the child’s choice of herb. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $8.00

EASTER EGG HUNT Sat, Apr. 15, 10am
Children 2 through 7 are invited to enjoy this fun-filled hunt, FREE of charge! Preregistration required.

Homeschool Craft Class: Decorative Decal Candle Wed, Apr. 19, 1pm
We will start with a pillar candle, then we will decorate it using garden-themed decals. A beautiful addition to any room or use as a spring table centerpiece! Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $10.00

Earth Day Kids’ Craft: Tin Planters Sat, Apr. 22, 10am
We will use recycled tin cans to make a cool planter! Each child will use recycled materials to make a unique planter. A plant will be provided to put in our cool new planters as well. Please wear old clothes. Children under 5 must be accompanied by a parent. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $8.00

Landscape Design Q&A Sat, Apr. 22, 10-11:30am
Michael Larkin, PA Certified Horticulturist and owner of Michael Larkin Garden Design, will share some ideas on how to give your landscape a fresh look. For the first part of the class, you will learn how you can make some easy changes to your landscape to improve the curb appeal. Then for the second half of the class, Mike will answer your Landscape Questions. Bring photos to help describe your problem area.

Pruning Techniques for the Homeowner Sat, Apr. 22, 12:30-2pm
Join Michael Larkin and learn the when, where and why of pruning! This class will demonstrate and discuss the various methods of pruning small trees and shrubs, when certain plants should be pruned and how proper pruning can produce a healthier, more attractive and longer-living plant. (Dress appropriately, this class will go outside). Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Pointers for Starting up your Pond Sat, Apr. 29, 1pm
There will be an open discussion on start-up tasks that will help get your pond off and running for the season. With this, and every class, we will also have an open floor to discuss any topics that are on your mind. FREE TO ATTEND.

Mommy&Me: Creative Prints Tues, May 2, 10am
We will make a beautiful picture using different items and paint to create interesting prints. This class is for children 4 years and under. Please wear old clothes. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Mother’s Day Frame Wed, May 3, 1pm
The kids will make a beautiful picture using rolled cardboard and paint to make creative prints. Then we will mount them in frames for a beautiful gift for Mom. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $8.00

Children’s Craft Class: Flower-dyed Cards Sat, May 13, 10am
Each child will make a floral card using the natural dyes from flowers. A perfect gift for mom! Then we’ll pot a flower to go with the card. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Dreamcatcher Wed, May. 17, 1pm
Each child will make a sparkling dreamcatcher using wire, beads and feathers. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $8.00
Succulent Bowl Workshop Sat, May. 20, 10-11:30am
Learn how to make a succulent container with Michael Larkin. Succulents are unique, sun-loving plants that do not require lots of care. We will design and plant a container with succulents of all shapes, sizes and colors. Provided will be a unique container, several succulents, soil, rocks and instructions on how to care for you plants. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Landscape Coaching Session Sat, May. 27
Have you ever planted the wrong plant in your yard? Are you tired of guessing what you should do to your landscape? Take advantage of years of landscaping and design experience. Michael Larkin, of Michael Larkin Garden Design, will meet with you personally at Ashcombe for a 1 1/2 hour session. Bring your questions and ideas. You can discuss how to make your garden or landscape more appealing, including the selection of plants and how to care and maintain them for a great looking, long-lasting landscape. The Importance of Air Sat, May 27, 1pm
We will discuss the benefits of having an aerator in your pond. As always, we will answer any questions on any topics that are on your mind. FREE TO ATTEND.

Mommy&Me: Growing Caterpillar Tues, Jun. 6, 10am
Each parent and child together will make a caterpillar that will grow into a “hairy” friend in the days and weeks to come! This class is for children 4 years and under. Please wear old clothes. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Craft Class: Garden Critters Sat, Jun. 10, 10am
We will make a couple types of critters you would find in or around your garden. Each child will take home their critters made of recycled egg cartons. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $5.00

Summer Soups Luncheon Mon, Jun. 19, 11am
We will have tasty and refreshing soups made using fresh vegetables and fruits. Assorted breads, drinks and dessert will also be served. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00

Children’s Craft Class: Stepping Stones Wed, Jun. 21, 1pm
Make a piece of art for the garden! Each child will make a stepping stone from cement, then decorate it with gems, decorative stones, sea glass and bugs! Ages 5 and up. Please wear old clothes. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Hypertufa Containers Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 10-11:30am
Join Michael Larkin to create a decorative Hypertufa container for your garden. Each participant will create a round hypertufa container (a mixture of peat, perlite and Portland cement) that can be used on a patio or in the garden year-round. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves and dress to get dirty!
Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Cement Hosta Leaves Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 1-2:30pm
Leaf casting is great fun and easy to do! Join Michael Larkin in creating cement hosta leaves for your garden. Learn the tricks to create a cement mold of a plant leaf. The leaf’s natural depressions and veins are captured in cement mix. They can be painted and used as wall art, bird baths, or bird feeders. We will make 2 hosta leaves and discuss ways they can be painted later at home. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves.

Algae 101: How to keep it out of your pond Sat, Jun. 24, 1pm
If Algae is in your pond, let us help you keep it under control. As always, we will answer any questions on any topics that are on your mind. FREE TO ATTEND.

Weeds & Wine Fri, Jun. 30, 4-8pm
This is a hands-on event where you’ll have weeds in one hand, and wine in the other! Help Ashcombe weed its beautiful gardens and learn about different weeds and how to prevent them. Wine and tools provided. Please bring your own gloves.
Children’s Garden Camp Jul. 17 – 21
A week long camp where kids will learn about plants, flowers, and everything else in the garden!
Each day we’ll get a little dirty, do a craft, and have a snack. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $20.00 per day, or $90.00 for all 5 days.
10-12pm each day. Pick up the full camp schedule in June!
