Terrarium & Fairy Garden Workshop Sat, Jun. 16, 11am
Participants can make either an elegant Terrarium or a cute Fairy Garden! Fee is $5.00 plus plants and supplies. Preregistration and payment required. You may bring your own container or purchase one here.

 

 

Cement Hosta Leaves Workshop Sat, Jun. 30, 10am – FULL
Leaf casting is great fun and easy to do! Join Michael Larkin in creating cement hosta leaves for your garden. Learn the tricks to create a cement mold of a plant leaf. The leaf’s natural depressions and veins are captured in cement mix. They can be painted and used as wall art, bird baths, or bird feeders. We will make 2 hosta leaves and discuss ways they can be painted later at home. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves.  Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $20.00

Hypertufa Container Workshop Sat, Jun. 30, 1pm
Join Michael Larkin to create a decorative Hypertufa container for your garden. Each participant will create a round hypertufa container (a mixture of peat, perlite and Portland cement) that can be used on a patio or in the garden year-round. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves and dress to get dirty!
Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Ashcombe Yard Sale    Sat., Jul. 7, 7-12pm
Join us for great deals from all departments! We’ll be set up outside in our event field. While supplies last!

Mommy & Me: Pom-Pom Flag Painting      Tues, Jul. 3,10am
We’ll get a little patriotic by painting our own American flags. Each child and parent will work together to make a flag painting using fuzzy pom-poms as their brush. We’ll end class with a yummy red, white, and blue treat. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

 

 

Children’s Craft Class: Mini Aquarium      Sat, Jul. 14, 10am
The perfect summertime craft – mini aquariums! Each child will make their own aquarium inside a mason jar. Complete with pebbles, shells, and creatures. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Hypertufa Wall Planter      Sat, Jul. 14, 10am & Sun, Jul. 15, 1pm
Create a unique, hypertufa wall planter. Planters will be made with a rectangular base and a 6 inch clay pot. Decorate with mosaic tiles too. The planter will be made on Saturday and picked up on Sunday when it has dried. Finished project is 9×18 inches. (Plants not included.) Fee: $30.00

 

 

Pollinator Container with Perennials      Sat, Jul. 14, 1pm
Make a mixed container perfect for pollinators, using perennials. Bring your own container (no larger than 18”) or purchase one from us. Fee includes soil, fertilizer, 4 pollinator plants, and Mike Larkin’s expert instructions. Fee: $40.00 (Containers larger than 18” permitted for an additional fee.)

 

 

 

Children’s Garden Camp, July 16th-20th • 10-12pm each day

A week long camp where kids will learn about plants, flowers, and everything else in the garden!
Each day we’ll get a little dirty, do a craft, and have a snack. We will also go outside, weather permitting. Please dress to get messy. Ages 5 and up. (Please notify us of any food allergies) Preregistration and payment required. Payment due at time of registration. Fee: $20.00 per day, or $90.00 for all 5 days.

Monday – Flowers: We’ll learn the different parts of the flower and what they need to grow. Each child will create their own poured paint pot which we’ll plant on the last day of camp.

Tuesday – Trees: Each child will make their own apple tree tic-tac-toe board. We’ll go over the different types of trees and learn to identify their leaves with a fun game.

Wednesday – Fruits & Veggies: We’ll make a work of art show casing different fruits and vegetables, while experimenting with texture painting. Each child will make their own play-dough using fruit and veggie dyes.

Thursday – Herbs: Each child will pot herbs and make garden markers for them. We’ll discuss the uses of herbs and also tour where our herbs are grown.

Friday – Pollinators: We’ll make a bee hotel and paint a butterfly garden charm. To finish the week, we’ll have ice cream sundaes!

 

Summer Soups Luncheon      Tues, Jul. 24, 11am
Our cafe cook will prepare several delicious summer soups using fresh fruits and vegetables. Assorted breads, drinks and dessert will also be served. Recipes and handouts are available. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00

August

Mommy & Me: Mermaid Day      Tues, Aug. 7, 10am
Feel like a mermaid for the day! Each child and parent will work together to make a mermaid necklace. We’ll use seashells and glass gems to make a beautiful pendant fit for the sea. We’ll also decorate a treasure chest to put the necklace in. (Necklace will need to dry before wearing.) This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

 

 

Butterfly Day      Sat, Aug. 4, 9-3pm
Join us for this wonderful day that’s all about butterflies! We’ll have children’s activities, fun displays, fairy garden classes and a butterfly release at 12 noon in the gardens. Call ahead to purchase your own butterfly to release. Deadline is July 15th. Ask for Kerri.

 

Fairy Garden Workshop      Sat, Aug. 4, 10am, 11am, or 1pm
In this class, each participant will plant their own fairy garden.  $20 fee includes container, soil, plants, stones, and a fairy. Preregistration required. For adults and children.

Cement Leaf Birdbath Workshop      Sat, Aug. 11, 1:30-3pm & Sun, Aug. 12, 1pm
Join Michael Larkin in this 2 session class to create a bird bath for your garden. Using a large 12-14” leaf, each participant will create a unique bird bath. In the first class we will make the birdbath. All material and instructions are included in the price of the workshop. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves. Project will be made on Saturday and picked up on Sunday after it has dried. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

 

 

 

Children’s Craft Class: Make a Stepping Stone      Sat, Aug. 11, 10am
Children can make a cool mosaic stepping stone for the garden. We’ll use mixed cement that we’ll pour in our mold and then we’ll decorate them. Each child will make one stepping stone. (Quick drying cement will be used, but it will need to cure for 24-48 hrs before releasing from the mold). Please dress to get messy. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Corn Fest      Sat, Aug. 18, 10-3pm
Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a day filled with fun events and entertainment in our field, including a Corn Hole Tournament. Pick up a complete schedule of events at our registers in July.

Corn Leaf Wreath Workshop      Sat, Aug. 18, 11am
We will use corn leaves to make a fantastic door wreath. Fee: $25.00 Preregistration and payment required.

Zucchini Madness      Sat, Aug. 25, 11am
Our Cafe Cook will demonstrate different ways to use this versatile squash. Learn how to make various dishes and sample them too. Recipes will be available. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

September

Fall Harvest Days Sept. – Oct.
Enjoy family friendly activities in our Fall themed event field. Kids can play in the hay and everyone can play games and try the corn maze. Don’t miss out on the fun of playing knocker ball! Finish the day with a horse drawn hayride and delicious fall foods. Special events are held every weekend during Fall Harvest – watch for the flyer in august with all the details.

Mommy & Me: Cactus Art      Tues, Sep. 4, 10am
Don’t worry, this cactus won’t bite! Each child and parent will work together to make their own cactus art with paper, glue, sand, and paint. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

 

 

 

Children’s Craft Class: Corn Wreath      Sat, Sep. 8, 10am
Each child will make their own corn wreath using paper, paint, scissors, and glue. We’ll experiment with texture painting to make the kernels on our corn cobs. What a great keepsake and fall decoration! Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Fall Squash     Sat, Sep. 15, 11am

Learn how to utilize seasonal vegetables like fall squash. Our Cafe Cook will demonstrate how to use fall squash in different ways. Samples and recipes will be available. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

This pumpkin craft is a lot more cute than it is scary. Each child and parent will work together to decorate pumpkins with paint. Get ready to get messy! This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Craft Class: Plant a Pansy in a Pumpkin      Sat, Oct 13, 10am
We’ll have fun getting a little messy, planting fall pansies inside a small pumpkin. Please dress for a mess. (Pumpkin tops will be pre-cut, so no tools will be used in class.) Preregistration required. Fee: $10.00
