Mommy&Me: Growing Caterpillar Tues, Jun. 6, 10am
Each parent and child together will make a caterpillar that will grow into a “hairy” friend in the days and weeks to come! This class is for children 4 years and under. Please wear old clothes. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Backyard BBQ , Sat, Jun. 10 10am-3pm

Children’s Craft Class: Garden Critters Sat, Jun. 10, 10am
We will make a couple types of critters you would find in or around your garden. Each child will take home their critters made of recycled egg cartons. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $5.00

Summer Soups Luncheon Mon, Jun. 19, 11am
We will have tasty and refreshing soups made using fresh vegetables and fruits. Assorted breads, drinks and dessert will also be served. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $15.00

Children’s Craft Class: Stepping Stones Wed, Jun. 21, 1pm
Make a piece of art for the garden! Each child will make a stepping stone from cement, then decorate it with gems, decorative stones, sea glass and bugs! Ages 5 and up. Please wear old clothes.  Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Terrarium Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 11am
Each participant will make their own terrarium to take home. Fee is $5.00 plus plants and supplies.  Preregistration and payment required. You may bring your own container.

Fairy Garden Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 1pm
In this class, each participant will plant their own fairy garden. Fee is $5.00 plus plants and supplies.  Preregistration required. For adults and children. You may bring your own container.

Hypertufa Containers Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 10-11:30am
Join Michael Larkin to create a decorative Hypertufa container for your garden. Each participant will create a round hypertufa container (a mixture of peat, perlite and Portland cement) that can be used on a patio or in the garden year-round. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves and dress to get dirty!  Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Cement Hosta Leaves Workshop Sat, Jun. 24, 1-2:30pm
Leaf casting is great fun and easy to do! Join Michael Larkin in creating cement hosta leaves for your garden. Learn the tricks to create a cement mold of a plant leaf. The leaf’s natural depressions and veins are captured in cement mix. They can be painted and used as wall art, bird baths, or bird feeders. We will make 2 hosta leaves and discuss ways they can be painted later at home. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves.  Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $20.00

Algae 101: How to keep it out of your pond Sat, Jun. 24, 1pm
If Algae is in your pond, let us help you keep it under control. As always, we will answer any questions on any topics that are on your mind. FREE TO ATTEND.

Weeds & Wine Fri, Jun. 30, 4-8pm
This is a hands-on event where you’ll have weeds in one hand, and wine in the other! Help Ashcombe weed its beautiful gardens and learn about different weeds and how to prevent them. Wine and tools provided. Please bring your own gloves.

Join us for great deals from all departments! We’ll be set up outside in our event field. While supplies last!

Hypertufa Succulent Container Workshop Sat, Jul. 8, 10-11:30am
Each participant will make two hypertufa containers (a mixture of peat, perlite and Portland cement). A small succulent plant will also be provided for participants to take home and plant when their hypertufa pot has dried. Please bring a pair of sturdy rubber gloves and dress to get dirty!  Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $30.00

Children’s Class: My first herb garden Sat, Jul. 8, 10am
We’ll take a tour of where our herbs are grown and then we’ll pot our very own! Each child will get to pot some herbs to make their own herb garden. We’ll make garden markers to go with them too. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Mommy&Me: Pressed Flower Picture Tues, Jul. 11, 10am
Each parent and child together will make a beautiful picture using pressed and dried flowers. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

With the Pond Depot, Plants: Why should I have plants in my pond? Sat, Jul. 29, 1pm

Children’s Garden Camp, July 17th-21st
10-12pm each day.
A week long camp where kids will learn about plants, flowers, and everything else in the garden!
Each day we’ll get a little dirty, do a craft, and have a snack. Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $20.00 per day, or $90.00 for all 5 days.

Monday: We’ll have fun in our gardens looking at all the summer colors! The kids will make cosmic sun catchers that will have all the colors of the rainbow. Playing a garden memory game will help us learn the flowers, tools, and bugs that we might find in the garden. We’ll finish the day with a rainbow themed snack.

Tuesday: Herbs will be the topic for the day. We will talk about the different herbs a garden can have. The kids will see how we can use herbs by making a living herb wreath and some lavender anti-stress putty. We’ll finish the day with herbal delights.

Wednesday: We will decorate a garden pot that we will plant later in the week. We’ll also practice naming vegetables by playing a fun game in our gardens. We’ll finish the day with a yummy and healthy, veggie snack.

Thursday: We’ll get inspired by the decorations in the gift shop and garden supply and then we’ll make some of our own out of recycled materials. We will make lanterns from tin cans and flowers from egg cartons. We will finish the day with a yummy caterpillar snack.

Friday: On our last day, we will pot a plant and play some garden games. We’ll have an ice cream party where the kids will show their parents what we made during the week.

August

Butterfly Day Sat, Aug. 5, 9am-3pm
Join us for this wonderful day that’s all about butterflies! We’ll have children’s activities, fun displays, fairy garden classes and a butterfly release at 12 noon in the gardens. Call ahead to purchase your own butterfly to release. Deadline is July 15th. Ask for Kerri or Deb.

Join Michael Larkin in this 2 session class to create a bird bath for your garden. Using a large 12-14” leaf, each participant will create a unique bird bath. In the first class we will make the birdbath. All material and instructions are included in the price of the workshop. Each child and parent together will decorate a shiny CD with beautiful gems to make an attractive garden ornament. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Class: Making Windchimes Sat, Aug. 12, 10am
Enjoy this craft all year long! Hang your child’s finished wind chime on the porch or out in the yard to hear it’s twinkling sound. We’ll use garden pots, beads or other found objects to make our wind chimes. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $5.00.

Children’s Class: Tic Tac Toe Wed, Aug. 16, 1pm
Each child will create their own garden- themed tic Tac toe board to use in their garden. The board will be made with sturdy, weather proof materials. It can be brought inside for winter! Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. $8.00

Corn Fest Sat, Aug. 19, 10am-3pm
Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a day filled with fun events in our field. Pick up a complete schedule of events at our registers in July.

Corn Leaf Wreath Workshop Sat, Aug. 19,11am
We will use corn leaves to make a fantastic door wreath. Fee: $25.00 Preregistration and payment required.

Dog Days Sat, Aug. 26, 8am-12pm
Bring your dog for this morning of fun! Visit with various organizations selling dog-related items and offering adoption opportunities. We’ll also have a dog wash, a dog pageant, door prizes and more!

Mommy&Me: Q-Tip Flowers Tues, Sep. 5, 10am
Each child and parent together will make beautiful daisies using Q-Tips, play dough, fuzzy sticks and construction paper. This class is for children 4 years and under. A parent or guardian must stay with the child. Preregistration required. Fee $5.00

Homeschool Craft Class: Growing Hair Buddies Wed, Sep. 6, 1pm
Each child will design and create a set of two ‘growing hair buddies’ to put on a window sill at home and watch grow! Please wear old clothes. Ages 5 and up. Preregistration required. Fee: $5.00

Children’s Class: Lettuce be healthy! Sat, Sep. 9, 10am
Kids will learn how to grow their own salads and eat healthy. Each child will plant their own lettuce, and we’ll build our own salad in class to see what we can do with our lettuce plants. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration and payment required. Fee $10.00.

Selecting the Right Plants for YOUR Landscape Sat, Sept. 16, 10-11:30am
We will begin with learning how to evaluate your site and discuss picking plants for your growing conditions. It’s important to know what conditions your desired plant prefers, and the type of care it needs to thrive. Discussion will include bloom time, seasons of interest and the locations where your plants will look best. Dress accordingly, part of the class will take place outside in the nursery. Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Pruning 101 Sat, Oct. 21, 10-11:30am
Join Michael Larkin and learn the when, where and why of pruning! This class will demonstrate and discuss the various methods of pruning small trees and shrubs, when certain plants should be pruned and how proper pruning can produce a healthier, more attractive and longer-living plant. (Dress appropriately, this class will go outside). Preregistration and payment required. Fee: $10.00

Gourmet Foods Luncheon Mon, Oct. 23, 11am
This tasty luncheon will comfort and warm you from the inside out! Enjoy a lunch featuring several different kinds of soups and breads — all made right here in our kitchen. Lunch will also include dessert and drinks.  Recipes will be available — great ideas for holiday entertaining! Preregistration and payment required.  Fee: $15.00
